Well that's my first REAL attempt at shading. I think it turned out pretty darn good.
I just hate hair. I don't know how to shade hair. I definetly need help on that one.
And I'm a bit concerned by the nose, which is not square enough and makes my hyena look a bit more like a german sheperd than a hyena.
By the way, could someone tell me why people always draw hyenas gray? Am I the only one who sees yellow in their hair color?
Well I don't know, I only saw one once in my life... Maybe you're right and that's a breed thing. some breeds are grey and others a bit more yellowish.
I'll have to check this up, now... Bah!
It's all your fault.

*panics and searches for door* IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!! I DIDNT MEAN TO!! *points to random bystander* IT WAS HIM!! *hesitates and crawls up in little ball* AAAAAARGH!!!
Very nice work. The shading is coming along nicely so far. You've got the basic down pat here. My only suggestions from here on in are to slowly work on giving some parts a bit of harsher shading to make it a bit more 3d like. Very nice job so far though.

'Don't know if you really care, but just in case...
Yes, it's a species thing. There are two types of hyenas : spotted and striped.
Spotted hyenas are more reddish grey, bigger, have this weird angle in their back and have rounder ears.
Striped hyenas are grey, smaller, have a more straight back and pointy ears.
I'm guessing here that in the Lion King, they made a mix of both.
